Home School Partnership - Matariki / Active Schools

Matariki and Active Schools was celebrated on Wednesday 24th June at Nayland Primary School and what an awesome night it was.
We had over 150 people attend our Home School Partnership evening and everyone enjoyed the night.
Naylands Active Schools plan was presented and children from Room 4 presented their Matariki power point and showed off the amazing art work made by students.
We had an expert astronomer called Robert talk to us about the stars in the sky and he brought the biggest telescope ever to look at the stars and Saturn.
Armed with torches and glow sticks we then walked up to the Reserve where our Sports captains had organized games for us to play in the dark like, Battleships, Dark Dodge Ball and a giant tug of war rope for us to all test our strength.
After a big walk we headed back to school for the whanau prize draw and a kai karakia to bless the food we were about to eat. The hot soup and sausage sizzle went down a treat.
It was a great night and thankyou to all those that attended the night and helped to make it happen.
